Why Amelia Wears Orange
We chose Amelia to wear the colour orange and yellow because it connotes warmth and friendliness, as well as confidence. After looking at Angela McRobbie's theory that states that men are always the hero, and the female is the victim, we wanted to present Amelia as a strong female protagonist who is independent, and did this through the use mise-en-scene, for example, her orange coat and yellow striped top. As a consequence we scrapped the idea of having a love interest, and subverted McRobbie's theory in the process. Moreover, we were inspired by the Receptionist in The Grand Budapest Hotel who is also shown with an orange backdrop.
